네트를 타고 흘러들어온 의외의 사건
건축주는 인터넷 사이트를 통하여 경암건축을 접하고 이튿날 바로 상경하였다. 그의 말에 따르면 전문 마리나 클럽에 대한 사례가 극히 드문 (건축법 용도규정에도 마리나 클럽이라는 단어가 없으니 아예 없다고 해도 과언이 아닐 것이다) 국내 실정으로 인하여 지역 공무원들과 건축사사무소와의 소통에 있어서 적지 않은 어려움을 겪고 있던 차에 우연히 눈의 띈 경암의 프로필은 한줄기 희망과도 같았다고 한다. 사실 건축주가 우리의 희망이었다.
The client first found Kyungam Architects Association via the internet website and he came to visit our studio on the next day. He was hoping for a help from Kyungam because at the time there was a difficulty in communication between local officials and the other architecture firm. He said that it is extremely hard to find experts in Marina Club design in South Korea and Kyungam was the last hope for him. But in fact, it was the opposite, he was our hope.

사이트가 위치한 양포항은 2008년 양포항 복합공간 사업으로 인하여 해상공연장, 어촌광광레져지구 및 광장조경시설지구로 조성되어 일반적인 어촌마을의 이미지와는 사뭇 다른 풍경이 자리 잡고 있었다. 오랜 시간 부지 선정을 두고 전국적으로 발품을 팔며 수고 했다는 건축주의 말이 허언이 아님을 실감하는 순간이었다.
사이트 동쪽으로는 양포해수욕장의 모래사장이, 서쪽으로는 운제산 백인봉을 뒷배경으로 20m진입도로가 접해있어, 골짜기와 능선으로 닫혀있던 시야가 일순간 장쾌하게 열렸다. 안에서는 밖으로 시야가 열리고 동선상으로는 마을과 상당거리 이격되어 프라이버시 확보가 가능한 사이트의 지리적 입지 때문에 멤버쉽 마리나 클럽이라는 특수한 성격에 안성맞춤이었다.
In 2008, there was a complex development project in Yangpohang which has constructed a Floating Theatre, Fishing Leisure District, and a Public Square. Accordingly its landscape contrasts to common fishing villages. The client mentioned that he did put much effort to find a good site and I could tell that he really did when I actually visited the site. Although the site is surrounded by East Yangpo Beach and West Woonje Mountain, Baekin peak, about 20 meters entry road opens up a stirring prospect of the site and exciting design possibilities.
The site was ideally appropriate for membership marina club, for its characteristics since it offers a wide open sight as well as the privacy.
Enlarged Space by 360°Panoramic View 360°경관 파노라마에 의한 증폭된 공간
인간의 인지, 정보습득의 85%이상은 시각으로부터 이루어진다. 이는 같은 공간의 범위라 할지라도 오감의 활성화 수준에 따라 체감되는 공간의 크기가 다를 수 있다는 것을 의미한다. 한정된 건축규모(6,600㎡)를 활용하여 최대한의 다양한 체험을 이끌어 낼 수 있도록 내외부공간이 시각적으로 깊이 연계하는 공간을 생각해 보았다.
초기 디자인 컨셉을 설정함에 있어서 내부공간과 외부 공간을 조닝하는 방식 및 아름다운 주변경관을 어떻게 받아들일 것인가에 대한 고민이 가장 컸다. 시야가 360°를 회전하는 동안 수상공연장과 요트계류장, 양포항(동해)
이라는 경관적 지표점을 기준으로 하여 공간이 만입, 돌출되는 과정을 총 4번 반복하며 十자형태의 평면이 만들어 졌다. 이러한 시각적 관계를 설정함으로써 내부공간의 위치에 따라서 각기 다른 외부경관이 연출되며 어떤 위치에서 어떤 행위를 하느냐와 함께 무엇이 보여지느냐하는 부차적인 요소로부터 각각의 단위공간의 성격을 규정되었다. 이처럼 소규모 건축물이 주변의 맥락을 활용하여 실제 공간의 크기보다 더욱 풍부한 공간체험이 가능한 증폭된 공간감을 갖도록 하는 것이 본 프로젝트에서 이루고자한 가장 디자인적 정점이다.
Human intelligence, information that we acquire is more than 85 percent by sight. This means that the scale of a space we perceive can be controlled by visual effect. To make the best use of limited space the visual connection between internal and external space is very important. The initial design focused on defining internal and external space in order to meld with its beautiful surrounding landscape.
Within 360 degree space, a floating theatre, yacht berthage and East Sea are specified as viewpoints. After repeating extrusion and recession of space from those viewpoints, cross shape plan has been created.
The fact that visual relationship between internal and external space varies depending on where we stand and what we do has influence in determining characteristics of each space. The key design idea was to amplify the sense of space within a small scale building through direct experience of outdoor space from inside of the building.
