역사적으로 충주는 고구려, 신라, 백제, 삼국의 중심에 위치하여 중원문화의 중심이었다. 이러한 역사와 문화를 배경으로 충주는 세계조정선수권대회를 개최하여 역동적이며 미래지향적인 도시라는 새로운 이미지를 창출하고, 장차 수려한 자연경관과 연계된 수변관광 명소로 도약하고자 하는 비전을 제시하고자 한다. 그러므로 충주의 지리적 역사적 중심성과 비전에 주목하고, 우리 고유의 중심사상인 삼태극과 충주의 중심성을 접목하여 한반도의 중심이자 조정대회를 매개로 세계가 융합하는 “화합과 활력의 중심”이라는 이미지를 계획에 담고자 하였다.
In history, Chungju was located at the middle of Goguryeo, Silla, Baikje and also made central districts culture. Chungji which has great history and culture background, is going to hold 2013 world rowing Championships and it makes image of chungju futureoriented and dynamic. Besides, Chungju has a vision is leap at the most attractive Waterfront sightseeing spots which is connected with beautiful nature landscape. Therefore, we focus on the chungju’s geographical and historical Centrality and vision. Then plan of the Tangeum rowing athletics was connected with samtaegeuk which is our endemic central thought and centrality of chungju. It will give a image which the world fuse into the center of energy and harmony carried by the middle of Korea and rowing competition.
